Saddleback - Where CR Started

JohnBakerWhen John Baker (see photo), CR’s Founder and a recovering alcoholic, shared his vision with his pastor for a Christ-centered recovery group, little did he know the impact he would soon have on thousands of lives.

His pastor, Rick Warren, gave him the go-ahead, and so in 1991 Celebrate Recovery was born in Lake Forest, California. Beginning with just 45 people, it has since been implemented in thousands of churches across the USA and now around the world – with more than 600,000 lives being impacted by this biblically-based program.

You’ve undoubtedly heard the expression, ‘Time heals all wounds.’ Unfortunately, it isn’t true. As a pastor I frequently talk with people who are still carrying hurts from thirty or forty years ago. The truth is, time often makes things worse. Wounds that are left untended fester and spread infection throughout your entire body. Time only extends the pain if the problem isn’t dealt with.

Celebrate Recovery is a biblical and balanced program that can help you overcome your hurts, habits, and hang-ups. Based on the actual words of Jesus rather than psychological theory, this recovery program is more effective in helping people change than anything else I’ve seen or heard of. --Pastor Rick Warren, Senior Pastor, Saddleback Church
