What Makes Jesus Necessary

The Wall...

Imagine that you find yourself surrounded by a great wall. It is too tall for you to climb, too deep for you to tunnel under, and too thick for you to break through – yet to find peace and forgiveness today, and an eternal home in heaven, you MUST somehow get out from behind this wall.

The wall is the sin that separates us from God. But we don’t have the power to break through it – it’s impossible. We have no hope of getting to the other side, no hope of being ‘good enough’ or doing enough ‘good deeds’ for Him to accept us.

That’s why we need a Savior!

“But the Scriptures have declared that we are all prisoners of sin, so the only way to receive God’s promise is to believe in Jesus Christ.” (Galatians 3:22)

Jesus alone was good enough, strong enough, holy enough, and able enough to make a way through the wall that separates us from God. He took the punishment for our sins so that we no longer have to bear the punishment ourselves. He took our place. His invitation to us: accept the pathway He offers and begin a personal relationship with Him. This alone makes it possible for our sins to be forgiven, and for God to see us as His very own children. We get to live in peace and true freedom today, and have full access to heaven – in other words, we get to live on the other side of ‘the wall’.

The choice is ours...

Many people are able to accept the idea of heaven as being a real place, but reject the notion of a literal hell. But even Jesus talked about hell – in fact, the Bible talks more about hell than it does heaven.

The argument has been made, “A loving God wouldn’t send people to hell”. And that’s true! A loving God doesn't send people to hell. It is our choice. He wants us with Him and He paved the way, through Jesus. It’s up to us to make the right choice so that we don’t have to endure eternal separation from Him and from those we love.
