Is Jesus Fact or Fiction?

Recorded history tells us that Jesus was a real person who walked on earth – He’s not a fairy tale! Ancient historians (such as Josephus) talked about Him; other religions recognize Him as having been a wise man or prophet, and even our calendar is based on Him (as in: 36 BC – Before Christ).

‘Jesus’ was not an uncommon name in His day, so His name alone did not make Him stand out in a crowd; instead, it was His teachings, what others said about Him, and what He did that made Him a focal point in history outside of ‘religious’ circles.

There is also consensus about the historical crucifixion of Jesus – writings from ancient Greek, Roman, and Jewish scholars support the reality of this event. Josephus mentioned both the crucifixion and the resurrection.

Where the debate occurs is over what significance – if any – these historical facts have on us today.
