About CR

CR's effectiveness is rooted in how it distinguishes itself from traditional recovery programs.

For those already in recovery, it may be reassuring to know that the founder of CR, John Baker, comes from a traditional recovery background. We use the 12 Steps, so much of what we do here will feel familiar to you.

What Makes CR Different...

1. We name Jesus Christ as our ‘Higher Power.’ Other groups may allow many things to represent their higher power, and while we welcome people of all faiths and beliefs, we claim Jesus as the true Higher Power.

2. CR is effective for everyone regardless of what their primary issue is; other programs often focus on only one recovery issue.

3. CR brings people of every hurt, habit, and hang-up together during Large Group time. As we hear each other’s testimonies – even from those with very different recovery issues and experiences – we often discover issues in ourselves that we never saw before, and they finally begin to lose their grip on our lives.

4. CR is based on 8 Biblical Principles spoken by Jesus in the book of Matthew in a section known as the Beatitudes. The traditional 12 Steps are reflected in these biblical principles.

5. CR is a place where the whole family can come and participate in a healthy recovery process.
