12-Step GroupsIt's Worth the Work! (Really!)When you are ready to take a step deeper into your recovery, 12-Step Groups are for you! These groups are usually held on a different day than the regular CR meeting, and are gender-specific. You’ll work through the four CR Participant Guides – which take you through the 12 Steps and the 8 Principles in more detail than is possible during the Large Group meeting. These workbooks ask the tough questions that help you examine your life’s hurts, habits, and hang-ups. The FormatAt the end of each weekly meeting, the group leaders assign some homework from the CR Participant Guides. (Yes, that’s right, homework!) But don’t worry, you won’t get graded on it! At home, you’ll work through the assigned questions – questions that help you look honestly at your own life. At the next meeting, time is set aside for everyone to have a chance to share the answers they wrote down. Why? When a person shares, it benefits not only them, but the others in the group as well. And of course, the CR Group Guidelines are followed to encourage open, confidential sharing. Recovering TogetherThese groups are not ‘issue specific’. This means, no matter what issue you’re recovering from, this group is for you! This unique setting allows for greater personal growth. As you listen to others share their experiences, you often discover new things about yourself that will help you in your recovery process. We learn from each other and find that many of our struggles are, at the core, the same. The CommitmentThese groups generally require a 9-12 month commitment to complete. After the first few meetings, these groups ‘close’ and no new members may join. Why? So that the group discussions can become deeper and more honest. As a result, many meaningful, mutually supportive friendships are formed. The CelebrationWhen you finish the 12-Step Study, you receive a certificate of completion. You also will have learned how to write your testimony so that when you are ready, you may share with others the story of the transformation that God has brought into your life! On-Going RecoveryPlease note: Receiving your certificate of completion does not mean you’re ‘good to go’! In fact, many 12-Step participants benefit so much from this study that they decide to go through it again, or even lead a group themselves. Remember, recovery is a process – not a destination.Continue with: 8 Recovery Principles |
